The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce

The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit organization that fosters economic growth, tourism, and business development in Deadwood and the Black Hills region. It supports local businesses through marketing, networking events, community planning, and promotional initiatives while also providing visitor services and travel information to enhance tourism. The Chamber organizes seasonal events and festivals, offers member benefits like directory listings and mixers, and serves as a liaison between businesses, government, and community stakeholders.

Devils Tower

Devils Tower National Monument is a striking geological landmark in northeastern Wyoming, rising dramatically above the surrounding prairie and reaching about 1,267 ft above the Belle Fourche River. Designated by President Theodore Roosevelt on September 24, 1906, under the Antiquities Act, it was the first national monument in the United States and is managed by the National Park Service. The Tower—a remnant of ancient igneous activity—is sacred to many Northern Plains tribes and known for its cultural significance and indigenous heritage. Today the monument offers hiking, wildlife viewing, interpretive exhibits at its visitor center, and world-class rock climbing.

The Badlands

Badlands National Park in southwestern South Dakota protects about 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires set within one of the largest tracts of mixed-grass prairie in the United States. Managed by the National Park Service, the park conserves unique geological formations and one of the world’s richest fossil beds, offering insights into ancient ecosystems while supporting diverse wildlife such as bison, prairie dogs, and endangered black-footed ferrets. Visitors can explore scenic drives, hiking trails, and interpretive exhibits at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center, camp amid dramatic landscapes, and learn about natural and cultural history.

Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore National Memorial, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, commemorates four U.S. presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln—whose leadership shaped the nation’s founding, expansion, preservation, and unification. Carved into granite between 1927 and 1941 under the direction of sculptor Gutzon Borglum, the monument is managed by the National Park Service and attracts millions of visitors annually. The site offers interpretive exhibits, the Presidential Trail, educational programs, and evening lighting ceremonies, while also highlighting the cultural significance of the Black Hills to Indigenous peoples.

Crazy Horse

Crazy Horse Memorial, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, is a monumental sculpture in progress honoring the Lakota leader Crazy Horse and the culture, traditions, and living heritage of Native American tribes. Begun in 1948 by sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski and still privately funded and family-operated today, the memorial is designed to be the largest mountain carving in the world upon completion. The site includes the Indian Museum of North America, the Native American Cultural Center, educational programs, and cultural events, serving as a powerful tribute to Indigenous history and resilience.

The City of Deadwood

The city of Deadwood, located in South Dakota’s Black Hills, is a historic mountain town renowned for its role in the American frontier and the Black Hills Gold Rush of the late 1870s. Best known for legendary figures such as Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Seth Bullock, Deadwood blends preserved Old West history with modern amenities. Today, the city offers historic gaming halls, museums, live reenactments, festivals, and outdoor recreation, while its preserved Main Street and surrounding landscapes provide a unique mix of heritage tourism, culture, and entertainment year-round.
